On February 22nd (from 12:30-14:00) the first online NMDC Knowledge Exchange Session on the topic Data Science will take place. A unique opportunity to meet your Data Science colleagues of the other NMDC institutes that are part of the NMDC Data Science Network! During this first session KNMI and Deltares will present their current situation regarding data science in general with impressive examples. Next to this there are two more in-depth presentations on the topic of data science: during these presentations there is enough time to challenge the presenter, yourself or start a technical conversation.

The in-depth presentation of this first Knowledge exchange session are:

1. Machine learning and FOG Detection by KNMI, Andrea Pagani
2. Machine learning and DAM segmentation by Deltares, Gennadii Donchyts

More background on the NMDC Data Science Network

The institutes that work together as NMDC in the field of models and data are all faced with the challenge to mature the utilization of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Data Science
(AI/ML/DS) within their own institute. It is expected that DS will form an integral part of researchers’ toolkit in 10 to 15 years’ time, as well as in job descriptions and work processes. Because all NMDC institutes face the same challenges, it makes sense to do this together.
